Stationery Classics: Party Animal

My favorite birthday card I have created would hands down be these penguins. Adorned in their finest party attire, these penguins were originally sketched out for a New Years card. Yes, these dapper gentlemen were meant for the New Year, but I loved them so much I knew they need to send more cheer all year long. I'm so glad these guys turned into my most beloved card.

Mothers Day Renegade Market

Last month we had a great time at the annual Renegade Craft Fair, Chicago Pop-Up. We definitely lucked out with amazing weather both days, great crowds and a beautiful setting near their new offices in Pilsen. I loved getting to know new vendors, saying hi to clients I have seen before at the fair and debuting my new notepads. It was a fun weekend celebrating a great kick off to the summer and of course Mothers Day — with a surprise showing by my very own sweet mom!

Valentine's Day Around the Corner

2017 is here and the first month is already finished, what?!?! I can't believe how fast this month has flown by—which that means February is almost here—but that means Valentine's Day is almost here! I'm not a sucker for the holiday, but have always loved how the reds and pinks have warmed up the dead of the winter months here in the MidWest. Plus it is another great excuse to send out cards and tell those around you why you love and adore them! What could beat that?

Free Valentine's Day Printables

Wow, Valentine's Day has snuck up on me once again! Luckily there is still time to get the cards into the mail and plan a little something for Saturday. Since my husband and I started dating, Valentines Day has always been a low key affair. Last year we went to a great little pub near by, ate delicious cheese, had some wine, and played games from the bars collection - our favorites including Blockus, and a few rounds of Gin Rummy.

One day a year is not enough to tell those you care for most how you feel, especially with such a happy thing as getting a handwritten note in the mail. I created two downloadable cards that you can print out yourself and spread the love to those around you.

Choose one or both; send one or keep sending them all year long! Each fits onto a 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper and when cut out & folded will fit a standard A6 card envelope.  Also, it's blank inside - easy for you to write down all the reasons you love that special someone, or just sign your name.

Download them here, Linalulu Paperie Valentines Day Downloadable, and happy card writing!

Valentines Week!

Valentines Day is Friday and I thought it would be fun to pull some fun aspects of the holiday (like the fun decor, recipes, vibrant colors, and cool crafts) and celebrate them here on the blog.

No, I have never one to go nuts for the holiday, but I do appreciate the aspect of a day to remind those we love that they are special in our lives, and shower them with pink and red candies. Winter is long enough my friends, especially this year. Why not have a fun, festive, but goofy holiday to break up the winter chill?

Artist Admiration: Dear Hancock

My humor has always had two strong hitting points: 1. Literal takes of a phrase and 2.  animals being personified in prints and drawings.   The artists behind Dear Hancock nail both of these on the head for me. Among their stationary you find whimsical and quirky interpretations of the world around them. My favorites of their work include the literal desk calendar for 2013, big happy birthday truck card, and their bunny cards (seen above). You can find this fabulous chubby bunny feature on almost a dozen different of their greeting cards. Among my favorite : Ski Bunny, Dad Bunny, and my all time favorite, Love Bunny. Doesn't he just steal your heart?

I admire Dear Hancock for the variety of simple and whimsical stationary products they offer, while continuing to update and adding to popular concepts. To me, each piece tells a loving and somewhat goofy story of these two talented artists behind the brand, and the way they see the world.

Go take a look at their new look book or follow their blog !
